Become a Volunteer

Would you like to become more involved with our organization as a volunteer? Whether you are looking to volunteer for a few hours or an entire year, learn new skills or build current skills, we have an opportunity for you! 
We rely on volunteers to support and maintain our programs, services and special events. We are looking for people willing to give their time and talent to promote AWED's mission.

Clothing Bank

Our professional clothing bank provides participants a wide selection of professional clothing to assist them at interviews and the first days of work. Volunteers are needed to help participants choose the perfect outfit for their first interview and first day at work.


Education Services

AWED offers educational and career workshops covering degree credentialing, job training, career exploration, resume writing, mock interviewing, credit and banking, and more. Volunteers are needed to teach courses, essential computer skills including how to work with Windows, the internet, e-mail, word processing, and other software essential to a successful job search. Volunteers also assist at mock interview sessions and perform basic clerical work.


Mentors

Are you a person who has been successful in business and life and would like to give back to help others be successful? Have you been down a similar road, looking for work or a new career, and would like to share your journey and success by helping someone who has walked in similar shoes? Become a mentor for women or men in one of our programs that assist our participants achieve their dream of finding a job in their field and regaining their independence.


Special Events

Special event volunteers provide support with set-up and staffing various recognition events and job fairs throughout the year, including our annual Faces of Success Luncheon. Volunteers are representatives of AWED, providing information about our programs and services, as well as greeting guests and visitors.


Office Support

Office volunteers are the backbone of our organization. Volunteers support the agency through setting-up files, organizing mailings, maintaining databases and making follow-up phone calls. Volunteers also assist with receptionist duties, job listing updates, and keeping trainig room organized and clean. Office volunteers allow staff to reach out to more clients, strengthening and supporting our mission.


Project Development

New volunteer projects and assignments are constantly being created and developed. Interested in sharing your thoughts and ideas to develop creative and fun projects for AWED volunteers? This assignment is for you. Future volunteer opportunities may include: Career Coaching, Mentoring, and AWED Ambassadors.


Become a Corporate Partner

Our corporate partners support the program by engaging employee groups to become mentors and facilitating an information session for interested employees.


Training/Workshop Coaches

Financial literacy, resume building, business plan, intellectual properties, public relations, internet marketing/social media, etc.



Business Consultants 

We'll refer clients to you for help with technical product design, importing/exporting, FDA approval process, joint venture development, etc.
